2 prayers rooms in new WA hospital – 1 dedicated to Muslims only

Fiona Stanley Hospital has a multi-faith prayer room and a dedicated room for the Muslim community. Similar facilities are planned for the new $1.2 billon Perth Childrens Hospital.

State Member for Southern River and former pastor, Peter Abetz, said he sought fellow MP support to approach Dr Hames after he was contacted by church leaders in his community.

“I don’t in any way begrudge the Muslims for having their facilities there but, as a Christian, I kind of take exception to the health authority treating the Christians like a … second-class citizen, when we make up 60 per cent of the population,” Mr Abetz told 6PR Morning program.

The main issue facing the Muslim community & the Health Department is whether to provide a Multi-faith room or a Separate Muslim Prayer Room.  It is important for us as Muslims, to unite on this issue and to push for a separate Muslim Prayer Room.  read full article
